Hey, it’s dark in here, turn the lights back on.

Every once in a while, every person has a point at which his or her system has taken all that it can handle. In combat they used to call it “shell shock”. The 2009 IFL season got the better of me this past week, and I snapped in a tirade that left several people rightfully questioning my own allegiances and heart. To those that took the time to personally respond, I do appreciate it. I’m actually kind of shocked that so many actually take the time to read the literary refuse I produce on a weekly basis.

In the “turn out the lights” blog I questioned the hearts of the players. That was stupid; any player in this league deserves respect above and beyond that. I’m sure I lost a lot of respect from a lot of people this season with all of my public comments and I probably deserve every bit of that. The level of disappointment I felt when I found out that a decision by the team I thought could do very little wrong was going to cost that team and us fans, so much, left me very confused. I say team, because if the league fails to differentiate between the front office and the players, then I guess I’ll do the same. We all know it was a personal decision at the highest of levels inside the front office; however it was, as far as the rest of the league is concerned, a team decision. That disappointment caused me to question my loyalty to the team. It was my wonderful wife who snapped me out of it when she asked “Was it Corey’s fault, Leif’s fault, or TB’s fault that it happened, hell no.” We knew, as fans, that we had to support the players and coaches to get through this. We still wanted 5.

Opening - Storm vs. Grizzlies

Rich Roste :: The Silver Fox.

From Tryon Gym Field in the Sioux Falls Arena this is Sioux Falls Storm football. Hi everybody, I’m Rich Roste and welcome to the Scott Lumber pre-game show…Scott Lumber…for all your building needs located at 4040 S. Grange Ave., proud sponsor of the Storm pre-game show.

It’s week number 15 of the inaugural season of Indoor Football and it’s the Fairbanks Grizzlies visiting the Sioux Falls Storm. This is the first and only meeting between these teams this season.

The Grizzlies, under first year head coach Sean Ponder bring a 5-6 record into tonight’s game. From reports I have the Grizzlies have been in Sioux City for the past week after losing to the Bandits 51-41last Saturday. Fairbanks has had an up and down season. At times they have played well at home winning games against Bloomington and Colorado along with taking Billings to the wire before losing 59-55. Earlier in the season the losing part of their schedule had been their away games but Fairbanks has lost their last two home games. Some of their standouts include their quarterback Justin Rummell who has thrown for over 2200 yards and forty-four touchdowns, of which forty-two have been thrown to three receivers: Lonnie Sanders, Keith Smith and Josh Crawford. Leading rusher is Denny Kimmel who averages five yards a carry. The offense averages about forty-five points a game while the defense gives up around 52.
